DO YOU KNOW GOD, BUT FEELS LIKE HE IS DISTANT ?

Hello friends,

Today, I would like to thank you for your consistency. It was led in my heart to start this series 'DO YOU KNOW GOD, BUT FEELS LIKE HE IS DISTANT? ‘. Don't miss any of this series. Also, I have another good news. I have decided to share more contents here on this blog on leadership and my lifestyle starting from the month of October. We are sure to have a good time.

PART 1

Someone said this yesterday, 'I know God, but it feels like he is distant’. I couldn't but write about my journey in Christianity which is still much of a work in progress.  Have you ever found yourself asking this question, is he really for me or against me? Don't beat yourself down.I was once there. Challenges of life throw this question even to the most strongest in faith.

Knowing God  is a REVELATION which is deeply seated in his love for the WORLD. Here, I mean not just his love for the world but his love for you. Not a crowd but rather an individual. You might ask how you fix your gaze in a waging storm where it all seems like he is silent.  God's silence has a deeper meaning which often signifies REST ( Matthew 29:11).

Season comes, season goes. I remember years back, there was a particular season I felt was God really for me?  Why would he have allowed this? All I did then was questioning and not asking the right questions. When life throws lemon, what humans do often isn't to ask God questions but rather questioning him. It was quite a huge season for me but here is what I saw even after questioning, there's a way He comes comforting me, at times through his WORD, at times through PEOPLE. Here was when I understood that trying to know God in a spectacular way makes us think he is distant.

Psalms 46:1
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

God isn't human and that's why he uses the foolish things to prove to the wise that he is God. Knowing God isn't a feeling but trusting his words.

Looking for the spectacular only gets us far away from God. Knowing God is having a relationship with God. Not like the way the world knows him but the way he chose to be revealed to you.

LEAN ON GOD, NOT YOUR UNDERSTANDING OR WISDOM

Proverbs 3:5-6 ( KJV)

[5]Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

[6]In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Yet a familiar scripture but  this struck my heart today.  Trusting God means to totally surrender. Like a little child who is totally dependent on his parents. With his curiosity the little child never subject to previous knowledge.

Here in the scripture, we are to lean on God, not the wisdom or the understanding as the devil is a roaring lion running to and fro always seeking for who to devour.  When the enemy tempted Jesus it was obvious he never relied on his knowledge but rather on God.

David, a man after the heart of God though had won the first battle he fought with the AMALEKITIES still decided to wait on GOD by choosing to LEAN ON GOD AND NOT THE PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE OR UNDERSTANDING.

When worried, I realize that oftentime the FOCUS CHANGED FROM GOD TO THE PROMISE. THE TRUST IS IN GOD NOT THE PROMISE

TRUSTING GOD IS ACKNOWLEDGING THAT THOUGH HE SLAY ME YET WILL I TRUST HIM

DON'T PLAY THE VICTIM

Situations of life often push many into playing the victim game.

Here I would say, STOP THROWING THE SELF-PITY PARTY

A victim is one who is considered  to be in disadvantage of a particular situation or circumstances. It's okay to want sympathy, the pleading and probably a shoulder to cry on but not with the DEFEATED MINDSET whether it's a loss of job, loss of a loved one but rather CHOOSING TO ARISE.

JEREMIAH 29:11

FOR I KNOW THE THOUGHT I HAVE TOWARDS YOU, SAITH THE THOUGHT OF PEACE, AND NOT OF EVIL, TO GIVE YOU AN EXPECTED END

*THE THOUGHT OF GOD ISN'T TO MAKE YOU A VICTIM BUT RATHER A VICTOR*

2 WAYS TO MOVE FROM VICTIM INTO A VICTOR

. GROW THROUGH LIFE AND NOT GO THROUGH LIFE

Sam Chand said in his book  called LEADERSHIP PAIN

*You'll only grow to the threshold of your pain.*

Pain isn't age centric. You will have to go through pain in one way or the other but difference lies in the MEANING ATTACHED TO IT. CHOOSE TO GROW RATHER THAN PLAYING THE VICTIM GAME.

. DON'T FOCUS ON THE SYMPTOM, KILL THE DISEASE

When life throws the unexpected oftentimes, we allow emotions to take the best of us which often leads to

¶ Unwholesome thoughts

¶ Unhealthy Behavior

¶ Devastating Actions

The symptoms is focusing on the emotions rather than the patterns that led to the particular situation.

With Christ, we own the power to live in his fullness and not  circumstance or situations

LIVING SACRIFICE

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship

                                        Romans 12:1 ESV

God created men to worship him in spirit and in truth.  Worship doesn't stop with singing but that all we do glorify him.  Living Sacrifice is totally sold out to God. We could see from the Old testament how Isaac was laid down for a sacrificial offering; that's a symbol of a living Sacrifice. Sacrifice is laying aside wants, desires and reaching onto the glory of God. It's called Sacrifice because you truly desire it but does it delight the Lord?

Sacrifice at times  is getting out of your comfort zone, getting out of the known. Abraham, the father of faith showed what a living Sacrifice is.

True Sacrifice is trusting God blindfoldedly. Humans love to figure out things; the next move, the next relationship, the next job but at times all he is saying is to fix your gaze on him. Abraham left the known for the unknown. He sacrificed his immediate want for a glorious one unlike Jonah who chose his immediate want.

Sacrifice is serving while in pain. Sacrifice is serving in your weakness. Sacrifice is serving while waiting. IT'S CALLED SACRIFICE BECAUSE ITS RENDERING AN OFFER THAT IS NOT COMFORTABLE. Sacrifice is when you totally die to self and understand that you are hidden  with Christ in God. ( Colossians 3:3)

Years back, I remember having to choose between what I want and who I would become. It was quite difficult because at that moment what I wanted seemed to be the end of it but the truth lies in the fact that Sacrifice comes with obedience. It's no longer a sacrifice when situations and pressure get it out of you. The big factor of Sacrifice is an Obedient heart.

More than ever, God seeks for a sacrificial heart. Those who are ready to go when he says to Go. Those who are ready to pay the price.

Are you a living Sacrifice totally dead to the pleasure of the moment?

CAN GOD TRUST YOU?

I woke up with this question in my heart “CAN GOD TRUST YOU?”. Most times, we pray for the grace to trust God but probably haven’t asked the question above.

Then the LORD asked Satan, “Have you noticed my servant Job? He is the finest man in all the earth. He is blameless—a man of complete integrity. He fears God and stays away from evil. And he has maintained his integrity, even though you urged me to harm him without cause.”

                                     JOB 2:3 NIV

Here, it was evident that God vouched for Job. Job was human but still God trusted him. God saw his heart and his  intent. God saw that it wasn't about what he had, but who he had. It was so clear that Job understood that it all starts with God and also ends with him.

Another, person in the scripture that readily comes to mind is DAVID. God called David a man after his heart ( 1 Samuel 13:14). David had his weakness but God still called him a man after his heart. Not because he was the holiest but his readiness to always go back to the throne of grace.  God exalted David because of his humbleness.

True heart is always known in trying moments. Jesus was identified as the son of God when he was  baptized by John, the Baptist. The devil came along the line to test him. Jesus didn't only stand the test but also conquered the enemy. Anyone can raise hands when all is well but a sudden change in situation, then the true heart of man is revealed.

For the eyes of Yahweh run back and forth , throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong on the behalf of those whose heart is perfect toward him.

                              2 Chronicles 16:9

My question remains this; CAN YOU BE TRUSTED BY GOD?

ARISE AND SHINE!

For he creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God.

                                     ( Roman 8:19 ESV)

More than ever, the Lord is calling for the rising of his sons and daughters. Christ is the light of the world and being  in Christ makes you a light.

This light isn't dependent on competence but rather the willingness to go, the willingness to embrace the uncommon, the willingness to embrace the unfamiliar.  The world is groaning to see you stand up. To rise and take up the

baton and run the race set ahead of you with patience and endurance.

You have got all it takes. In Christ, you have all that pertains to life and godliness and the calling forth isn't limited to the pulpit but to all the sphere of influence. You are a light and have been created to be a voice. A voice to the world, a witness for Christ.

He has taken you through the wilderness. The wilderness didn't kill you. You didn't just survive, you thrived. He didn't allow you to settle because of the many waiting to see you breaking the norms and the standards of the world.

The standard is Christ. Yes! Christ. He paid it all that all men may be subject to the dictate and the lordship of his father. You are a light, you are dead to self and now risen with him.

Abraham left his Father's land  for the unknown

David stops being a shepherd of sheep to become a king.

Now, is the time to sit at his feet and arise. Arising to the newness of his system, Arising to the newness of his power.

Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.

For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the Lord will arise upon you, and his glory will be seen upon you.

And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising

                                    (Isaiah 60:1-3 ESV)

WORRY STEALS JOY

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

                                      John 10:10 ESV

One of the biggest strategies of the enemy is to get us  to rock on the seat of worry. It doesn't only get us stuck in a place but also gets us  out of focus. The focus is never the promise but the one who owns the promise ( God).

Every promise of God is for an appointed time (Habakkuk 2:3) but before the promises, come the process. While in the waiting room, the strategy of the enemy is to sow various seeds which get men out of focus and also steal their  joy. Joy isn't the absence of a storm but staying calm even in the midst of trials and tribulation with the heartfelt belief that we are already an overcomer.

To truly overcome worry, we must choose to realign our focus. God promised Abraham a son but even while waiting his focus wasn't on the promise but rather on God. Remember, when he was told to lay down his son . it was obvious he knew whom he believed and chose to trust because the focus right from the beginning was in God ( Roman 4:3)

Another way to overcome worry is to pray. Prayer is a shield and even the scripture says not to be worried about anything but in all with prayer and supplication make your request known unto God (Phillipian 4:6). Prayer is a dialogue. Staying in prayer is trusting God to do the impossible.

Also, we must continually hold steadfast on the word of God. The word of God is LIFE. When we constantly and deliberately give ourselves to the study of the word we are continually reminded of the Power of the word which shapes our thoughts, and thinking.

Worry is not of God. It's of the enemy and we continually hold steadfastly in the knowledge of this.

Thank you for reading!

Have a blessed week.

RESPOND AND NOT REACT

Today I thought of this and the question that pumped up immediately was this 'WHEN CHALLENGES OF LIFE ARISE WOULD YOU CHOOSE TO RESPOND OR REACT?’.

Life throws the unexpected and often we can decide to RESPOND OR REACT. Choices differentiate responding  from reacting . In the scripture Joseph chose to respond and not react here even though he had the authority but  chose to be a leader without authority because he realized that they meant it for evil but God turned it around for good ( Genesis 50:20).

Life battles are not chosen. Hence, they are not meant to be fought by men.  The battle is of the Lord to fight. Peter reacted at the face of the battle but Jesus  demonstrated that the battle is of the Lord to fight ( Luke 22:51).

David was another man in the scripture who chose to respond even when he had an opportunity to kill Saul ( 1 Samuel 24:1-7).  Every opportunity of life brings you a choice. Being at Peace is not the absence of a storm but rather staying calm even in the midst of a waging storm.

Today regardless of what it is. Choose to be you, choose to be who God has called you to be.  It all starts with a choice.
