GOD'S TIMING

8 But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness.
                                           (2 Peter 3:8-9 ESV)

God is a God of his time. Humans are naturally impatient but God is ever patient.
The book of Ecclesiastes  emphasizes the timing of God and we could see from Genesis , how he created all things in six days and rested on the seventh day. It is so evident when we check through the scripture there are several emphasis on the days ( i.e In the seventh year etc).We get consumed with worry, anxiety because we give timeline to the promises of God. I love this scripture ;

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes,it's the TREE OF LIFE
           ( Proverbs 13:12 ESV)

Before the fall of men, it was explicit that God told men to eat of all except the tree of good and evil.
Why?
God desires that all men may eat of the Tree of life which was mentioned in the scripture above.
The enemy lured Eve turning her mind against God because the enemy knew that the plans of God were for an expected time. It's the same for us as humans. We often forget that every promise of God is life. It comes first as a word then becomes a flesh but the enemy sows different seeds in our heart to lure us from the focus. The focus was never the promise but the giver of the promise.

We cease every opportunity for a second choice but here it was obvious in the life of Abraham that God's timing is the best.
Abraham went for another option after being convinced by his wife to take up another wife who would grant him an issue. Ishmael was born but we saw that Isaac was for an appointed time.
Today, I would like ask this question. What promise of God are you waiting on? His word says ;

For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
                                ( Habakkuk 2:3 ESV)
Ishmael was the replica of the promise. The timing of God was Isaac.
Waiting is probably not the easiest thing to do but we must realize that everyone is waiting on God for one thing or the other. Hence, you are not ALONE.

“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.”
        ( Psalm 27:14)

IT'S OKAY NOT TO HAVE EVERYTHING FIGURED OUT

Right from childhood we have been taught to figure out things and live based on the opinions of others. This includes society, parents( our first contact), teachers.  Society has marked a certain age range to the accomplishment of a particular thing. I am not surprised that the rate of depression and comparison keeps on increasing day by day.

Earlier today, I thought of this exact statement. It's okay, not to have everything figured out. God created you and I as human beings and never human doing. Genesis 1:26, spoke of how God created humans in his likeness and his image. You have what I call the nature of God.  The nature of God in you is never dependent on Self but rather in him ( no one knows a clay better than the Potter).

When I was quite young, I remember living with the belief of having everything figured out which was crippled in by fear especially because I wasn't the most brilliant one. This probably led to what I call self-dependence forgetting the place of Grace.  Grace is an undeserved and unmerited favour from God. Christ paid the price that you and I can come boldly to the throne of Grace ( Hebrew 4:16).

Grace comes with the acknowledgement that I can lean on him who knows the ending right from the beginning. It gets you off from trying to figure out the next thing when you can hold on to the one who owns the future. It's okay to acknowledge that you are weak, that you are tired. Weakness is never about being powerless but rather acknowledging that you are a human. In your weakness is the strength of the Lord pronounced ( 2 Corinthians 12:9)

I have decided to look up to  the hills where my help comes from, my help comes from him who created heaven and the earth and I pray this would be your testimony too.

I pray you find rest in him, by trusting his plan which is nothing but to get you an expected end.

Have a blessed week.

GREATNESS IS UNDERLINED IN THE CAPACITY FOR SUFFERING

Evolution is often wrapped up in higher demand. The higher demand is laced in suffering. Hence, there's no spiritual growth or evolution that doesn't demand a specific stretch.

Stretch a times looks like an unending journey but like the Scripture put it.

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

                       1 Corinthians 10:13( NIV)

Jesus endured the cross because of the glory set ahead of him. Within every suffering lies greatness.Suffering is a puzzle that is in disguise of pain, discomfort, agitation, worry.  Weeping may endure the whole night but surely joy comes in the morning. The joy isn't circumstancial based but rather a choice of true wholeness from within.

How do you unravel greatness in suffering

I. Have a laser-focus

Laser-focus keeps you going even in the most trying and demanding moment.

Jesus had a laser-focus on the goals set ahead of him ( Hebrew 12:2). The three Hebrew men in the book of Daniel had a laser-focus on the end goal. It's okay to go through the means but surely the end goal keeps you ablaze.

II. Search for the significance

Every Suffering comes with a significance either to strengthen you or to discipline you.

Ecclesiastes is well known for purpose. Choose to see the purpose rather than the pain. Job saw a purpose within in what everyother person saw as pain.

III. Grow through it:

Suffering comes with a choice. Growing through it or not. We choose what we hope to see or become.

Iv. Praise: Praise is an attitude that strengthens the mind when it seems all hell is breaking all loose. Choose to praise render than worry about things you cannot control.

GET INTO THE SOLITUDE

These few days have been a whole lot about getting into solitude for me.

Recently, I was studying the book of Matthew 14:23 and one thing that caught my attention was how before Jesus set out  for his father's business. He gets into Solitude for instructions and leading of the spirit.

Often, we all wait for adversities to get us into Solitude but here in this Chapter, Jesus knew the task ahead but still went ahead to seek the face of God.

What vision has God given to you?

It's okay to have the Vision but the real task lies in seeking for his guidance at every step.

While in Solitude, one thing I really got was this, many of us have got the vision. I.e
I mean we know what to do but failed to ask for his guidance ( step by step)

No man can sustain what God has made provision for.

King David was regarded as a man after the heart of God because one thing we can easily point out was his habit of getting into  Solitude even though he knew God was by his side.

Getting into Solitude is leaning on the Lord and just like Moses said,
' If your presence would not go with me, I would not go' - Exodus 33:15

I pray that the Lord grant us all the staying power in Jesus name.
